Type Overview

Personality Preferences

We believe that understanding your personality - and that of others - opens the door to success.

The theory of type, or personality preferences, attempts to explain something that is at the heart of everything we do - how do our preferences for certain ways of behaving affect the choices we make, and thus the path that we follow? Here you will find information on applying an understanding of personality type to improve leadership, teamwork, coaching and learning.

Type Theory

'Type theory' is an umbrella term covering many different areas of personality study. The e-coaches programme is based on the theories of type preferences of the Swiss psychoanalyst Carl Jung, but it takes into account many other areas of research on the subject - details of these can be found in the section on psychometric testing.

At e-coaches, we use knowledge of our clients' preferences to build a programme of development that takes his/her personality type into account.

Read in more detail about type theory and psychometric testing, see how type can be employed in coaching and learning environments, and read some real-life examples of different personality types.
